From a healthy vine comes good wine.
This is a piece of old folk wisdom. At RoncSoreli we not only believe this to be true but we put it into practice every day. To grow balanced vines with respect for the environment is the principal guideline all our skilled vineyard management team follows.
The 42 hectares of vineyards are our greatest heritage. The vines are trained using the Single Guyot system as well as the ancient local system "Capuccina", mainly used in the historical vineyard planted to Friulano (for many still known as "Tocai"). This land, which was put to vine in 1968, has become today our pride and joy.
For the love and care we put into our "little patch of earth and history" we are repaid with top quality grapes. The particular position of the vineyard planted to Friulano, halfway up the hill slope and right next to the woods, offers us the precious possibility to harvest botrytized grapes.
At RoncSoreli, even though the extent of the vineyards allows for a wide range of grapevines to be cultivated, we have decided to limit the production only to the varietals that best thrive in this particular terroir, namely, Friulano, Ribolla Gialla, Picolit and Schioppettino.
At RoncSoreli we have the largest vineyard of Schioppettino of the whole region, and it is situated in the Schiopettino di Prepotto subzone – Menzioni Geografiche Aggiuntive, which loosely translates to Additional Geographical Definitions – a remarkable cru.
As for the international varieties, 20 hectares are planted to Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon, Pinot Nero and Merlot.
It is always worth going for a walk among our splendidly healthy vines. In every season you can find something interesting to pick. Medicinal plants, aromatic herbs and flowers grow wild between the rows of grape vines.
They are there for us to enjoy.
